Age 69 years and born August 2/1929 near Windsor in the small farm town of Blytheswood Ont. I have lived in Windsor since I was 7 Years old . I retired from Chrysler Canada in 1992 as an Electrician Leader in the Body in White section of the Company. I had control of all the Welding and Robotic Machinery that we used to perform all the tasks needed to weld the bodies together. Primary hobbies are Astronomy and Ham Radio and love to travel and Mobile a lot in the summer time. I have been an active ham since 1960
when I first passed my examination for Ham Radio.
Here is a picture of one of the Keys I put together way back 25 years ago for my first Keyer.
The Mobile Antenna system is home brewed and works quite well. It involves some specific calculations. It is a large coil of 4" in diameter and the winding is 4" long and made with Number 10 Flameseal wire close spaced with the insulation left on to space the turns. The antenna is mounted quite high on the truck at 66" from ground. The bottom section is 41 " long and the capacity hat is about 15" above the coil. The Capacity Hat is 30" in diameter and moves up and down on a screw to peak the antenna on the different frequencies for the lowest SWR. The antenna is not multibanded but for the maximum Q it is the sharpest one I have ever made. It has always served me well .
I enjoy tinkering with all sorts of repairable things and frequently succeed in repairing them. 73 Joe DXD |
