Paul VE2QRPaul Uttaro, VE2QR was licensed in 1946, had a period of inactivity as a ham from 1960 to 1980. He sold his equipment to his brother Dave to insure that he would not be tempted to get hamming again. Dave got interested in ham radio, obtaining his license and bugged Paul to get back on the air.

Before retiring in 1985, Paul bought a complete new station ... Icom 751, TL922 Kenwood Linear and all the goodies that come with it. His present rig is a Icom 745. He also has a Icom 735 used as a mobile. Paul likes to experiment with antennas, especially wire ones of all kinds. Ask him about the 3 band Quad that he started to build.

At age 17 Paul attended trade school, graduating 2 years later and started working as a Radio Technician. Then he got employment with Westinghouse in 1944, worked in Home Electronics and Appliances for 22 years and transferred into the Industrial Products as a Marketing Negotiator, bidding on jobs for electrical installations, such as substations and other High Voltage applications until 1985 when he retired at the age of 58.

Paul enjoys Hydroponic culture, gardening and auto mechanics maintaining his vehicles and equipment in top shape.

He keeps busy cutting grass and hay for family and close friends as the bylaws in his area require that vacant lots be kept cut to control weeds etc.
