Guy Trotier was born in Quebec on April 26,
1919. My father was chief despatcher for the CNR. I got my
B.A. in 1939, began my medical studies at Laval University the same
year and joined the C.O.T.C. Unfortunately, I was wounded in an accident
and declared unfit by the army. I learned morse, became a commercial
operator and worked for the D.O.T. for the duration of the war.
In 1945, the government allowed me to return to university and I finally graduated in 1950, got married and set up a practice. Meanwhile, I managed to pass my first ticket and was operating as VE2AOO. In general practice, 20% of patients are cases of skin disease and I was frustrated not being able to establish a diagnosis. So, I closed my office in 1966 and began a full training in dermatology, ended in Paris as Interne des Hopitaux in 1968. Back home in October 1969, I was appointed consultant at the Jeffery Hale’s Hospital, opened an office and did some teaching until I retired in 1985. VE2AOO was OK on cw. However, I got sick of explaining that there were two «oscar» in my callsign and that Ste-Foy was not near the North Pole, so I switched to VA2PM and made Quebec my QTH…Besides, the city limits are 30 feet from my property. Hobbies: -early sixties: flying, golf, skin diving -old age: gardening, cooking, collecting old movies… HF Rig: Kenwood
TS-180S Antenna: vertical, Cushcraft.
Thank you for reading my «brag tape».73, Guy.
