The Sandbox is Unique!
‘The Sandbox', is a very unique gathering place.

Where else would you find such a diverse family? Industrial workers, professionals, civil servants, teachers, businessmen, professional drivers - the whole bag!  And to enrich it .... we get our nightly cw check in from Bob, KA3ZLA, from Manchester, Maryland. We were amazed that Bob didn't check into the net when he was hanging from his parachute, swinging from a high voltage power line.  And, how about Marino

N1PVP - our cw phile, who has been known to take an hour as net control on the transprovincial, by key.
We have had more than our share of adventure. There were the nights that Bob Day, VP2MAM, checked in routinely from beneath the shadow of an active volcano in Montserrat. We also have our international connection of hams that check in, when conditions allow from Europe. Not only that, but there have been many nights when propagation required our European check ins to assume net control duties.

The Cuban connection from the radio club of the University of Santiago De Cuba in Oriente province have become part of our family - and Don VE3ESE, has been our unofficial Sandbox ambassador. What makes the Sandbox Unique? Maybe its the stimulating topics which have been presented for discussion. (Eg. Glynn's (VE3PVE) report on the neutrino laboratory, far beneath the earth in the Sudbury area). Or the laughter.

And, like any family we have had our downtimes - with the loss of Sandbox friends, and their close family members. But through all the laughter, and personal insights, we are proud that the Sandbox presents a great mixture of radio potpourri.
